Why Travel Out of State for TMJ, Sleep Apnea Treatment, and Reconstructive Dentistry

Great Wolf Lodge, great for families

Bring the family, enjoy the fun!

When you are getting routine dental care every six months or so, it’s important to pick a convenient dentist that isn’t too far out of the way. But when you are getting treatments that can be as life-changing as TMJ treatment, sleep apnea treatment, and reconstructive dentistry, it’s most important to make sure you’re getting the right dentist. It doesn’t matter how far you have to travel.

And because the results for these treatments can be very long-lasting, the travel itself is not a major burden compared to the high level of benefits.

Initial Consultation

To make sure we are all prepared for the consultation, we ask that you fill out the appropriate new patient forms. Please send us a copy of recent x-rays and other images that have been taken to diagnose your condition. Panoramic x-rays or CT scans are preferred. Describe your symptoms in as much detail as you can manage. Also describe to us the treatments you have tried and how well they have worked or not worked. If the information is incomplete, we may recommend local services you can use to obtain crucial imaging.

Once we have received your information, we will schedule a virtual consultation. We may use online chat services like Skype or Facetime, or we may schedule a phone call, whichever is most convenient for you.

The Goals of Initial Consultations

Even with a complete medical history, we cannot diagnose you over the phone or via chat. However, we can determine whether:

  • It is likely that you will benefit from treatment in our office
  • The benefit will likely justify your travel and other expenses
  • You have been adequately informed about the services we offer
  • We are able to establish a good doctor-patient relationship

After the initial consultation, if it seems like you would be a good candidate for treatment at our office, we will start discussions about travel arrangements.

Travel Arrangements

BITE is very conveniently located just 15 minutes from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, making it a great destination for anyone seeking treatment with travel hassle.

Our treatment coordinator can help you make travel arrangements. We will help you understand how long you need to travel for and what types of arrangements you may need for travel to and from diagnosis and treatment. We can recommend accommodations and may be able to help you schedule them.

We will also help you understand whether you will benefit from a companion who can help with aftercare. If you do not have anyone who can travel with you, we may recommend a professional nurse.

If you have any questions about our procedure for out-of-state patients or if you want to schedule a consultation, please call BITE today at (817) 481-6888.
